  • Overview:

Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture (IVS) is a not-for-profit, private institute in
Karachi, Pakistan. It is a premier educational institute where different courses of art
are offered. IVS has acknowledged an independent charter by the government of
Sindh was the fourth private institution of higher education in Pakistan to be
given university status. It has also been the third highest-ranking Art and Design
University in Pakistan.

Location:

IIVS has only one campus situated at ST-33, Block 2, Scheme 5, Clifton, Karachi.

Programs offered
IVS offers 6 undergraduate programs:
1. Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) 
2. Bachelor of Interior Design (B.ID)
3. Bachelor of Design (B. Des) – Textile Design
4. Bachelor of Design (B. Des) – Communication Design
5. Bachelor of Design (B. Des) – Fashion Design
6. Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA)
Note: The Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) is a 5-year (10 semesters) long
program with 170 credit hours whereas the other 5 undergraduate programs are of 4
years (8 semesters) duration with 134-140 credit hours.

Admission to IVS:

All students begin their degrees in the undergraduate program with one year in the Foundation program before taking courses specific to their majors.

The admission process is conducted in two stages.

Stage 1- Admissions portfolio: To clear the portfolio stage minimum cut-off marks are determined each year and vary across programs. It consists of two parts: short descriptive answers (part 1), visualization and creativity (part 2).

After completing and submitting the online form and the processing fee, the candidates receive a link to download the admission portfolio . They are given 8 days to complete it.

Stage 2-Interview: A final merit list is reviewed based on interview marks scored by the applicants.

Note: The final merit list is based on 60% Admissions Portfolio marks and 40% interview marks.

Eligibility Criteria:

>Minimum C grade (50%marks) with the intermediate certificate.

>Foreign qualifications like Cambridge A-Level, International Baccalaureate Diploma, Career-related program, American High School Diploma, Ontario Secondary School Diploma (Canada), etc., must be equivalent to a minimum C Grade (50%) in intermediate qualifications. An equivalency certificate issued by IBCC (Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen) must be submitted.

>Students waiting for their results are also eligible to apply based on their 1st-year Intermediate result and Admit Card of the second year or AS Level results and statement of entry of A-Level exams.

Note: They will only be given conditional admission and their admission
shall be revoked if the above minimum requirements are not fulfilled.

Application process:

 

The entire application process will be filled out online. The applicants are required to fill out the admission form and submit the documents. The following documents are required in a soft copy (with a file size of less than 1 MB) on the IVS admission portal.

 

1. CNIC of parents of the applicant

2. Certificate / Marksheet / Transcript of Matriculation Qualification

        For O-Levels and other foreign qualifications, a Matriculation equivalency certificate from IBCC is mandatory.

3. Certificate / Marksheet / Transcript of Intermediate Qualification

        For A-Levels and other foreign qualifications, an Intermediate equivalency certificate from IBCC is mandatory.

 

For applicants waiting for their results, the following must be submitted:

For A-Levels and other foreign qualifications, a statement of entry or proof of taking the relevant foreign qualification exam equivalent to Intermediate in the May/June session.

Financial Aid:

IVS believes in giving equal chances to scholars who face economic challenges in pursuing their studies at the school. Financial help is offered in the form of Financial Assistance (interest-free loans) and scholarships to new scholars who have been elected on merit, or existing scholars who are finding it difficult to pay their tuition due to challenging circumstances. These are as follows:

  • Financial Assistance scheme

This scheme is interest-free and is provided to cover up to 75% of the tuition fees. A parent or a guardian is required to give a written guarantee that the repayment of the loaned money will be repaid after graduation. A promissory note is needed to be signed by the student to confirm their commitment to pay back the amount.

  • Scholarships

A Scholarship is awarded to those pupils whose family income is inadequate or they are unable to repay after one year of graduation.

Accommodation and Transport Facilities:

IVS does not have accommodation of its own. However, the school can facilitate suitable arrangements for females. IVS does not have a transport arrangement of its own. However, the administration can facilitate students to connect with private transporters operating from various areas of the city to the IVS campus.
