IST

Overview

It was decided in the year 2002 to establish an educational institution that would impart specialized education in space and related science to bring our nation to par with the international community. Thus, the Institute of Space Technology came into existence in September 2002 offering undergraduate degrees in Aerospace Engineering and Communication Systems Engineering as its core disciplines.

Over this period of 19 years, the institute has launched undergraduate and graduate programs in various engineering and natural science disciplines.

Location

The main campus of IST is located in Islamabad Capital Territory at approx. 20 minutes drive from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, having multiple access through Islamabad Highway and GT Road

IST also has two sub-campuses.

National Centre for Remote Sensing and Geo-Informatics (NCRG), Karachi.

Dr. A.Q.Khan Institute of Computer Sciences and Information Technology (KICSIT), Kahuta.

Admission Process

  • The admission process of IST is very simple. All you have to do is register on IST admissions portal and complete your personal profile.i.e Personal Info, Parents Info, address etc. https://ugadmission.ist.edu.pk/
  • In your user profile the information about your close relatives is also needed in addition to your personal details.
  • You will also have to give a guardian(usually a parent), who will be paying your dues, this can be your parents or anyone else. 
  • Guardian’s contact info and CNIC number is necessary to confirm that they are taxpayers.
  • For calculation of merit you will be asked to give marks obtained in SSC and HSSC or equivalent certificates.i.e O and A levels. 
  • You should also enter your entry test marks.
  • After completing your application, a challan of 2500 Rs will be generated which you will pay in any HBL Branch and then upload the copy of paid challan on portal for submission of application. 
  • You will receive a confirmation mail within a day.
  • Wait for the merit lists to be announced.

Entry test

As for the entry test, IST does not conduct its own entry test rather it accepts any of the following tests.

  • NAT- 1 conducted by NTS
  • HAT-1 conducted by HEC
  • SAT-2 subject test
  • NET conducted by NUST
  • ECAT conducted by UET

Important Dates To Remember

Usually, the procedure of online applications starts in the month of April and it lasts till August when the result of HSSC part 2 is announced. Due to the current Covid-19 situation around the country, dates are subject to be changed as per the government guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

General eligibility for all engineering programs is:

Minimum 60% in SSC or equivalent certificate.

Minimum 60% in HSSC or equivalent certificate.

Minimum 50% in the entry test.

General eligibility for other degree programs:

Minimum 60% in SSC or equivalent certificate

Minimum 50% in HSSC or equivalent certificate

Minimum 50% in the entry test

For DAE diploma holders Minimum of 60% marks are required for all degree programs.
