ELIGIBILITY

BS(Civil Engineering/Electrical Engineering)

  • At least 60% marks in HSSC (Pre-Engineering) or an equivalent examination

Admission based on NTS-NAT Marks

  • Cut-off marks to be determined by the University.

Admission based on NU Admission Test

  • Merit List is prepared by assigning 50% weight to marks obtained in Intermediate (part-I) (or an equivalent exam) AND
  • 50% weight is assigned to the score obtained on NU Admission Test.
  • In case, Intermediate result is not available, Matriculation marks are used and multiplied by a factor of 0.9 (to equate it to average Intermediate marks).

Admission based on SAT score

  • Combined score of 1,500 or more in the SAT-I examination AND
  • At least 550 in the SAT-II (Math Level IIC) examination.

The online admission test is taken on a computer. Each candidate is given a different set of questions. The sections of a test (English, Analytical skills, Math etc.) appear in a random sequence. Moreover, questions related to different topics also appear before the candidate in a random sequence. In each section, a candidate can move forward and backwards to review the responses selected. The candidate can change his or her response to any question within the current section.

Each section of the admission test has a fixed duration. Each section is timed independently and time saved in one section is not carried forward to the next section. At the end of the test, a summary of the results is displayed on the screen. The duration of the Online Admission Test is two hours.

PREPARATION TIPS

  • First of all your FSc concepts should be cleared as it is one of the basic requirements of any pre-admission test.
  • For the preparation of advanced Mathematics and physics you can prepare your notes from PTB books and for the practice of these particular portions KIPS, STEP, NEARPEER and STAR academy prep books are quite helpful.
  • For basic Mathematics you should be acquainted with the textbooks of the 9th and 10th classes and for the practice of this portion you have to solve past papers of NTS, as the past papers will give you an idea about the difficulty level. If you want to practice more, then we found the STEP NTS prep book helpful in this regard.
  • Although not a lot can be predicted about the English test, we think a student with basic English skills and a good vocabulary should have no problems with the test.
  • The portions of Analytical reasoning and IQ are quite easy and many YouTube channels are available for their preparation. You can also find various prep books for practice e.g. KIPS, STEP, IBAGRADS and ANEES HUSSAIN.

On the whole, the test is not as difficult as it is considered but due to negative marking, you have to be careful while marking your answers. In this way, you’ll be able to achieve a great score which will help you to secure your admission to the desired field.

EXAM DAY TIPS

  • Take 7-8 hours of sleep the night before the test.
  • Try to calm your nerves, despite the panic.
  • Time management is very important so make sure how you are utilizing the time, especially because the time saved from one section is not carried forward to the other.
  • Don’t panic if you are not able to solve a particular MCQ just leave it for the time being and try to solve it after completing your test but do make sure that you are not guesstimating (as there is negative marking)so it would be better to leave a question if you are not sure about it.
